Today, many professionals believe that stress is one of the major contributors to the world’s health problems. Stress also causes many physiological disorders and health problems such as heart disease, high blood pressure, asthma, diabetes, premature births, pregnancy-related miscarriages, obesity, and cancer.

The famous quote: “If you’re stressed out, your life is not so interesting.” may still be true. In today’s highly-connected society, our work, social activities, and personal relationships are more difficult. In many situations, we are either performing or managing work, social activities, or both, and the stress can be overwhelming.

Stress, although well-known, is a broad term. It can be physical, mental, social, emotional, or chemical. Stressors range from workplace issues, finances, health issues, family issues, education, family issues, and financial issues. Sometimes stress is temporary; other times it lasts for months or years. We all encounter stress in one form or another.

To avoid getting involved in an addiction, particularly alcoholism, stress is a major health problem. Many people develop a dependency on alcohol, either through the consumption of alcohol or through consuming alcohol to avoid feeling stressed or unhappy. Alcoholism is a major contributing factor to poor health, not only in the person’s physical condition but also in his or her mental state. Once a person becomes dependent on alcohol, he or she cannot function without it.

He or she will not be able to be productive because the effects of alcohol consumption will have a negative effect on his or her brain. Living with addiction is not healthy because there is often a chain reaction that results in a pattern of self-destructive behavior. The alcoholic often uses alcohol as a way to avoid feeling stress, which in turn causes the drinker to feel anxious, depressed, and overwhelmed. This cycle can repeat itself over again until the person stops taking drugs or alcohol.

Another major contributor to stress is excessive work. Having too much work at home or at work means that the individual is not able to spend enough time with his or her family. Too much pressure can lead to anger, sadness, depression, or any other emotional issue.

Working full time also requires that the individual not have a good support system and not have enough time to exercise. This can lead to a lack of sleep, and sometimes, even burnout. Other contributing factors include the fact that most of us work in traditional jobs, which many consider boring and/or routine.

With the advent of the internet, many of us now work from home, which creates additional pressures for those who need to find ways to cope with the demands of modern society. There are also opportunities for job burnout when working from home, especially if there is not enough social interaction. Stress is created by too much work, isolation, and insufficient social interaction.

Alcoholism and drug abuse can cause sleep disorders. Individuals who are unable to sleep due to extreme stress, anxiety, or insomnia often try to sleep medication to help them get through the day. The side effects of sleeping medications include blurring of vision, tremors, blurred vision, blurred hearing, and mood changes. Also, many people also associate sleep medication with addiction because it also causes dependence.

Most health conditions can be relieved or prevented by taking part in activities that are enjoyable. Remember that stress is a very real thing and can be eliminated or reduced by taking steps to reduce the factors that create stress.
